Grammys has never been these strange! This has been the weirdest Grammys of all times in my journaling career. I guess that’s what happens when the usual suspects decided to make a switch from their sexy character gowns to sophisticated gowns. Huh? Grammy performances by Camilla Cabello, Dolly Parton and the host Alicia Keys were nothing short of amazing, but the no-shows from Beyonce and Ariana Grande were telling, and set us up for one of the not so stylish Grammys yet! Still, there were a few outfits that got us going! SUSPECTS: LADY GAGA We all know this soft-spoken fierce-performing artist has gone wild with her carpet looks once even spotting a gown made from raw meat but who knew she can be normal? She stunned-opting for a silver feminine Celine floor-length gown, with side ruffles down to the thigh-length slit, topped off with diamonds from Tiffany & Co.…

Shades of Grey… Grey hair can be cause for a complete nervous breakdown. More so for women, because when men go grey they look so much better! Remember when Obama went grey? We didn’t think it possible, but he actually looked hotter! You will often wonder why it happens and what it means, so here a few common  grey hair myths Fright causes grey hair Only older people get grey hair. Hair can turn grey overnight. Plucking a stray grey hair often means three more will attend its funeral. (But avoid plucking hair because it damages your hair follicles. But seriously, there’s a simple explanation for why hair goes grey. Hair and skin tone come from the same cells called melanocytes. Melanocytes produce melanin for the skin colour (black/brown) and hair. Grey hair happens when hair follicles stop producing melanocytes. When it happens it is mostly caused by genetics but…

Red on black gives off a fiery classy and sexy look on dark skin women. It is a must-have staple in your makeup bag. Much like new a new hair-do, a red lip has the magic to transform your entire ensemble with one stick. Undertone is the colour that shows beneath your skin; to find your undertone clench your fist and check your wrist. Dark skin women have a range of undertones that determine the right hue for your lipstick. They range from warm to cool tones. Warm undertones include green, peach, yellow and gold, while cool undertones are bluish, purplish and pink. Neutral undertones appear to have the same colour or nude undertone under the skin surface. Good news is that red looks good on dark complexions! Lipsticks range from shimmery, glossy, ashy to matte. Nude hues of reds are subtle and go well with summery colours on the…

Cancer awareness is growing with each passing year. The best defence is always offence, and when dealing with cancer going for screening regularly ensures that we are aware and are able to find out problems that may be in the making sooner than later.  Testing is part of prevention and both males and females should make screening a regular habit. You can self-examine or go to the nearest cancer-screening centre. You can screen yourself for breast cancer while in the shower, in front of a mirror or even while lying down by using the pads of your fingers to move around your breasts in circular motion from the outside to the centre. Focus on looking for lumps, hardened knots or unusual thickening. If you are not comfortable with self-examination, you can pop in to any of these centres and get checked by a professional. By Nairesiae Masikonte Eyes are the window to the soul- so it stands to reason that our eyes draw others in and reflect our very essence to the world. Paying attention to these hallowed portals is fashion forward and need not be difficult with some quick tips! Colour Use black eyeliner and see how your eyes become the center of attention. Line the top and bottom lids for dramatic effect, and use lighter shades of coffee and hazel for quiet statements. We’re all guilty of keeping makeup and all kinds of lotions and potions far longer than we ought to! Yes! Contrary to popular belief, there IS an expiry date for makeup and products that we slather on to our bodies daily. You only enjoy the benefits of these products when you use them within their shelf-life, and using them after they have expired, is simply asking for trouble. When you buy products to use in your skin – and hair care regimes, always look out for this sign: M. It is often found on the product, should you fail to find it labelled on the packaging. It is often accompanied numbers such as 6, 12, 18 or even 24. These numbers refer to the number of months that the product is actually good for. Avoid buying products with no details of their shelf-life, because these numbers give us a guide…
