Brows Before and After Microblading and Microshading A few weeks ago, I put up a poll about eyebrows. Yes, eyebrows. I couldn’t possibly be the only one who had an eyebrow struggle, I thought! I’d heard and read about microblading and microshading, and when the opportunity to try it came along, at Headlines Microblading Spa, I gave it a go. Biologically, eyebrows protect the eyes from heat, light and also sweat. They are also the unsung heroes of human communication and expression. Eyebrows portray a myriad of emotions and also help with face recognition, but sometimes eyebrows represent a formidable aesthetic challenge for many women – and men! Most respondents who took part in the poll, said that uncontrollable eyebrows were a problem, and a close second thought that their…

Whether long, short, lacquered or not, real or fake, your nails are the easiest reference point to your kind of personal grooming. Great looking nails are not just a preserve of the beauty salon, it’s possible to sport an immaculate set of nails without weekly nail sessions. No matter which way you choose to wear your nails, establish a routine that will ensure you nail it every time! Let’s begin with the easiest routine to maintain. Keeping nails clean. If nails are stained a little baking soda can be used while cleaning your nails, to leave them looking clearer and cleaner. Remember to also brush under each nail! Brittle nails break easily and if…
Thick lashes, long lashes, bold lashes, gimme dem lashes! We want them all! But how to get them without using fake lashes is the question. Apparently an insider beauty trick to lush lashes is waterproof mascara, which not only lasts for all eternity, it also gives your lashes that extra burst of life! It, however, may be challenging when one wants to take it off and nothing seems to work. Unless you use the following: Oils They come in handy whenever you want to do away with the waterproof mascara. It’s a perfect solution because they are able to smooth down the constituents of the mascara, hence no need to keep scrubbing the eyelashes, which yanks them out. Common oils such as coconut oil, almond oil or castor oil can be used as they are readily available in most supermarkets and beauty shops. Secret tip: Castor oil is recommended for…

And we’re well into 2019! I’ll be honest and confess, that January was tough trying to get back to regular work, fitness and life routines. After what I happily dubbed ‘the champagne days of Christmas’, January was a month of penitence and atonement. The roughest time was going back to the gym and simply not being able to do what I easily handled at the start of December! But the physical discomfort of settling into a routine, is nothing compared to the emotional and psychological adjustment to new habits and new patterns. Our internal wiring is really something special. Creating new pathways in the brain, is the best way to override existing ones, because as science would have us believe, letting go of what was and embracing what’s new is much harder than it seems. This could explain why, despite every good intention, resolutions are stored on dark shelves sooner…
Grammys has never been these strange! This has been the weirdest Grammys of all times in my journaling career. I guess that’s what happens when the usual suspects decided to make a switch from their sexy character gowns to sophisticated gowns. Huh? Grammy performances by Camilla Cabello, Dolly Parton and the host Alicia Keys were nothing short of amazing, but the no-shows from Beyonce and Ariana Grande were telling, and set us up for one of the not so stylish Grammys yet! Still, there were a few outfits that got us going! SUSPECTS: LADY GAGA We all know this soft-spoken fierce-performing artist has gone wild with her carpet looks once even spotting a gown made from raw meat but who knew she can be normal? She stunned-opting for a silver feminine Celine floor-length gown, with side ruffles down to the thigh-length slit, topped off with diamonds from Tiffany & Co.…
